Natural Lip Exfoliant
Sugar + Honey DIY Lip Scrub
Your skin is your body’s largest organ, so it’s important to know what you’re putting on it. Sugar is a natural exfoliant, and when combined with local honey it becomes an incredible (not to mention delectable) moisturizing lip scrub! Exfoliating your lips removes dead skin and makes them feel soft and smooth. If you happen to wear lipstick or gloss, regularly exfoliating your lips will help your coverage look better and last longer.
I like to make a large batch of this DIY lip scrub and portion it into frosted glass lip balm containers to gift to friends and family when I see them. It’s extremely affordable to make and can encourage others to look to nature for their self-care routines!
The Recipe:
2 tsp granulated sugar
1 tsp local honey
To Make:
In a small bowl, gently stir the sugar and honey together until well incorporated.
Transfer into a clean 5g / 5mL sealable makeup or lip balm container.
To Use:
Use this lip scrub no more than twice a week to promote smooth, supple, and healthy looking lips!
It may be tempting to use this scrub daily, but you must take care not to over-exfoliate the skin.
Remove any makeup or lip products from your lips prior to applying the scrub.
Gently rub a fingertip’s worth of exfoliant onto the lips using your index finger (or a toothbrush) to remove dead skin.
Allow to sit for five minutes, scrubbing intermittently.
Gently wash the exfoliant off your lips using fresh water and a soft cloth.
Apply coconut oil or your favorite lip balm directly after using to keep your lips moisturized and hydrated!
