For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had immense adoration for nature and the environment. As a child I could often be found sampling a leaf or talking to birds during recess. (Yep. I was “that” kid on the playground.) The moments spent outdoors were always my favorite, and are what ring loudest in my mind when I think back on my youth. I have many fond memories of my parents teaching me how to garden and taking me fishing throughout my childhood and into my adolescence. I vividly remember watching my Nana prepare our prized family recipes, being eager to learn how to cook like she could and create something wonderful from ingredients that were fresh and humble. These sacred moments are probably where my penchant for food and its relationship with the environment really began. I found magic in preparing food we had sourced with our own hands, and developed a reverent respect for nature and the circle of life. As I got older, I channeled my passion into studying the Culinary Arts, Nutrition and Education at Johnson & Wales University. During this time, I began to research sustainability and seasonal lifestyles outside of the classroom. I’ve been doing my best to make more environmentally conscious choices ever since. There’s still much for me to learn, but I am excited to be taking the steps to live more mindfully and intentionally. I’ve used the knowledge and skills gained at school and from my upbringing to help develop the recipes and articles you’ll discover on this website. I hope it will be a testament to those who helped bring me to where I am today, and serve you well on your journey to leading a life in-season.
